Lunch at San Miguel del Bala hostel

Take a break from the noisy streets of Rurrenabaque and choose two of the five activities offered throughout the San Miguel del Bala Lodge, an ecolodge owned Tacana community located just 45 minutes upstream from Rurrenabaque.

All guides are indigenous Tacana, and have lived in these forests throughout their lives. They will share their experiences and knowledge, and their hospitality during his time with San Miguel del Bala, either for a day or five.

Meet your guide at the offices of San Miguel del Bala at the head office of the airline Amaszonas at dawn. Your guide will take the motor canoe awaits you at the port of Rurrenabaque. From the port is a boat ride 45 minutes to the Beni River. Enjoy beautiful views and scenery as it gains speed upstream.

Activity #2 – Waterfall / Swimming. Take the canoe upriver a little closer to the mouth of a stream which flows into the Rio Beni. Thence, your guide will take you along the stream a short walk 20 minutes to a waterfall which has a natural pool below where you can take a refreshing dip after the walk and relax in the soothing waters. The walk is a little difficult, so be sure to consult with your guide before leaving, If you feel you can handle it. The reward of his work involves sitting under the waterfall and allow this natural massage will relieve tired muscles.
